Atmanirbhar Panchayat Programme

 

The Atmanirbhar Panchayat Programme is a four-year initiative of the Ministry of Panchayati Raj launched in 2026.

Its objective is to make Panchayats financially self-reliant by developing projects based on local assets and Own Source Revenue (OSR).

The programme uses a State and National-level open challenge system. It provides technical assistance rather than direct financial assistance.

Eligible Panchayats can explore financing through:

  • PPP

  • CSR

  • Institutional credit

  • Convergence with government schemes.

The programme was formally launched in July 2026 along with the SAMARTH Panchayat Portal and Model OSR Rules.
