CUET UG is the gateway to undergraduate admissions across central and several state universities in India. It is structured into three sections that together evaluate language proficiency, subject knowledge, and general aptitude.
Section 1: Languages
This section tests structural command over languages, featuring 13 main Indian languages (English, Hindi, Tamil, and others) and 24 additional or foreign languages (French, German, Arabic, and more).
- Reading Comprehension: Evaluates understanding via factual, narrative, and literary passages.
- Literary Aptitude: Measures structural language comprehension and style identification.
- Vocabulary: Focuses on synonyms, antonyms, and correct word meanings.
- Grammar: Covers basic syntax, sentence re-arrangement, and common errors.
Section 2: Domain-Specific Subjects
This section includes 23 elective subjects, with question depth mapped directly to the Class 12 NCERT curriculum. Students choose subjects matching their high school stream or target degree.
Science Stream
- Physics: Electrostatics, Current Electricity, Magnetic Effects, Optics, and Modern Physics.
- Chemistry: Solid State, Solutions, Electrochemistry, Organic Compounds, and Biomolecules.
- Biology: Reproduction, Genetics, Evolution, Human Welfare, and Biotechnology.
- Mathematics: Calculus, Vectors, Three-Dimensional Geometry, Algebra, and Probability.
Commerce Stream
- Accountancy: Partnership accounting, Non-Profit Organisations, Shares, and Financial Statement Analysis.
- Business Studies: Principles of Management, Business Finance, Marketing, and Consumer Protection.
- Economics: Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, and Indian Economic Development.
Humanities & Arts Stream
- History: Ancient India, Medieval India, and Themes in Modern World History.
- Political Science: Contemporary World Politics and Politics in India since Independence.
- Geography: Fundamentals of Human Geography and India: People and Economy.
- Sociology: Indian Society, Social Change, and Development in India.
Section 3: General Test (GT)
This section is optional but highly recommended, as it is mandatory for interdisciplinary degrees like BBA, BMS, BCA, and certain B.Com programmes across central universities.
- General Knowledge: Static GK covering history, basic science, and geography.
- Current Affairs: Recent national and international events, awards, and sports.
- General Mental Ability: Basic logical reasoning, patterns, and blood relations.
- Numerical Ability: Arithmetic concepts up to Class 8 (Percentages, Profit & Loss, Ratios).
- Logical & Analytical Reasoning: Data interpretation and deduction tasks.
