Pradhan Mantri Surya Sarovar Yojana 2026: Floating Solar Projects
The Union Cabinet approved the Pradhan Mantri Surya Sarovar Yojana (PM-SSY) in July 2026.
It focuses on development of Floating Solar Photovoltaic (FSPV) projects with Energy Storage Systems (ESS).

₹5,070 crore
Target
Floating solar capacity → 5,000 MW
Energy storage → minimum 10,000 MWh
Storage duration → minimum 2 hours
Implementation/sanction period → FY 2026–27 to FY 2030–31.
Financial support can continue up to FY 2032–33.
Other Facts
The National Institute of Solar Energy estimated India's floating solar potential at approximately 102.18 GWp across reservoirs and other suitable inland water bodies.
Central Financial Assistance includes:
₹1 crore/MW for eligible projects after commissioning.
Up to ₹50 lakh per project for feasibility studies.
