  • SAF is aviation fuel produced from alternative renewable or low-carbon feedstocks.

  • Possible feedstocks include:

    • Agricultural residues

    • Waste materials

    • Used cooking oil

    • Other sustainable biomass

  • SAF is chemically compatible with conventional aviation fuel after meeting required technical standards.

  • It can significantly reduce life-cycle greenhouse-gas emissions compared with conventional fossil aviation fuel.

  • In April 2026, the Government brought SAF-blended aviation fuel under the ATF Control Order.
