UPSC CMS (Combined Medical Services Examination)

UPSC CMS is a national-level exam conducted by the Union Public Service Commission for MBBS graduates, to recruit Medical Officers in central government departments including Indian Railways and Central Health Service.

  • Exam Stages: Computer-Based Test (500 marks) followed by a Personality Test/Interview (100 marks).
  • Eligibility: Must have passed the written and practical parts of the final MBBS examination. General category candidates must be under 32 years of age.
  • Exam Pattern: Two papers of 250 marks each — Paper I: General Medicine and Pediatrics; Paper II: Surgery, Gynaecology & Obstetrics, and Preventive & Social Medicine.
