Why in News?
The Union Cabinet approved the proposal to officially rename the state of Kerala as Keralam.
Constitutional Provisions
- Governed under Article 3 of the Constitution.
- The President refers the Bill to the concerned State Legislature for its views.
- Parliament passes the Bill by a simple majority.
- Requires Presidential assent.
