NSO to Launch India's First National Household Income Survey (NHIS) & ASISSE

Why in News?

The National Statistical Office (NSO) will conduct India's first-ever National Household Income Survey (NHIS) and Annual Survey of Incorporated Service Sector Enterprises (ASISSE) from April 2026.

Key Highlights

• Duration: 1 year
• Surveys to be conducted digitally using Computer Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI).
• Covers entire India except inaccessible villages in Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
