India’s Fish Production Doubles in a Decade (FY 2013-14 to FY 2024-25):
Increased by 106%, from 95.79 lakh tonnes to 197.75 lakh tonnes.
India is the 2nd largest fish producer globally, leading in aquaculture and shrimp exports.
Highlights:
Average aquaculture productivity: 4.77 tonnes/ha.
Seafood exports hit Rs. 62,408 crore (USD 7,453.73 million).
Exports grew 3.11% over last year.
Seafood contributes 7.43% to Agriculture GVA.
74.66 lakh jobs created since 2014-15.
Schemes & Investments: Rs 32,723 crore approved; total Rs 38,572 crore invested under schemes like PMMSY, PMMKSSY, FIDF, Blue Revolution.
