- Notified by MoEFCC under Environment (Protection) Act, 1986; effective 1 April 2026; supersedes SWM Rules 2016.
- Mandatory 4-stream segregation: wet, dry, sanitary, special care.
- EBWGR (Extended Bulk Waste Generator Responsibility) for Bulk Waste Generators.
- Environmental Compensation — Polluter Pays Principle; CPCB frames guidelines, SPCBs/PCCs levy compensation.
- RDF usage by cement/waste-to-energy plants: 5% → 15% over 6 years.
