 Lakhanpur in J&K Selected for PM SVANidhi Street Food Hub Initiative

• What: Lakhanpur, Kathua district, J&K selected as one of first 50 towns under PM SVANidhi Street Food Hub initiative.
• Announced by: Dr. Jitendra Singh, MoS Independent Charge, Ministry of Science & Technology.
• Ministry: Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs + Support from Ministry of Tourism & FSSAI.[MoHUA]
• Objective: Develop organized, hygienic street food hubs, promote Dogra cuisine, tourism, sustainable livelihood for street vendors.
• Funding Pattern: Rs 4 Cr per Hub in 3 installments - 30% - 50% - 20% + Rs 25 lakh incentive to ULBs having notified Street Vending Plan.
• Location: 2 clusters in Lakhanpur Market.
• UPSC Relevance: GS2 - Welfare Schemes, GS1 - Indian Culture [Dogra cuisine]
• Prelims Point: PM SVANidhi = Pradhan Mantri Street Vendor's AtmaNirbhar Nidhi. Launched 2020 during Covid. Not just loan scheme now, also infrastructure.
