DoT Signs MoU with TSDSI to Strengthen India's Global Telecom Standards Ecosystem

• Who: Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Communications + Telecommunications Standards Development Society, India [TSDSI].[DoT][MoC]
• When: During 9th TSDSI Technical Deep Dive [TTDD] 2026 in New Delhi.
• Objective: Under TDIP Scheme to strengthen India's participation in global Standards Development Organizations, promote indigenous telecom innovation, support startups and MSMEs under Bharat 6G Mission.[SDOs]
• TDIP Scheme: Launched by DoT in 2026, outlay Rs 203 Cr for 2026-2031.
• Financial Support: For participation in global bodies - 3GPP, ITU, oneM2M [global M2M and IoT standards], support for 3GPP Individual Membership fees.
• Benefits: DPIIT-recognised startups and MSMEs - upto 98% support for turnover upto Rs 10 Cr, 80% support for turnover Rs 10-500 Cr + upto 80% travel assistance [max Rs 5 lakh per international meeting].
• UPSC Relevance: GS3 - Telecom, 6G, Self-reliance, Standardization.
• Mains Angle: Atmanirbhar Bharat in telecom, role of standards in tech sovereignty, Bharat 6G Mission.
