- Presented by: Rajnath Singh, Defence Minister to Jitu Vaghani, Agriculture Minister, Gujarat in presence of Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde, Governor Rajasthan.
- Award: Agriculture Leadership Award by Agriculture Today Group, introduced 2008 on recommendation of M. S. Swaminathan, recognises innovations and performance in agriculture by states/institutes. Jury headed by Justice P. Sathasivam, ex-CJI.
- Why Gujarat: Performance in horticulture, transformation through Krushi Mahotsav, Soil Health Card, drip irrigation, achieving 9.9% growth during Tenth Five-Year Plan [2002-2007]. Horticulture sector grew with improved irrigation, modern techniques, govt support.
- Legacy: Best Agriculture State in 2009, 2014, 2018, exceptional performance in animal husbandry in 2019.
