• Who: Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd secured technical approval from IN-SPACe for proposal to deploy LEO satellite constellation of ∼1,600 satellites. Assessment in consultation with ISRO and WPC wing of DoT.
• Clearance: Plans to file for orbital slots worldwide to deploy India's first home-grown satellite broadband constellation under ITU which regulates satellite frequencies and locations.
• Framework: 4.5-5 Tbps satellite internet constellation with 20-22 Indian ground stations, superior capacity over existing projects.
• Services: Fixed Satellite Services [FSS] like broadband and cellular backhaul + Mobile Satellite Services [MSS] offering Direct-to-Device connectivity, targeting consumer and enterprise users.
