DoT and MP Sign MoU to Establish India's First Telecom Manufacturing Zone at Gwalior

• Who: Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Communications + Government of MP at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.
• Present: Jyotiraditya M Scindia [Minister Communications & MDoNER], Dr Mohan Yadav [CM MP], Dr Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani [MoS Rural Development].[MoDNER][MoRD]
• What: India's first Telecom Manufacturing Zone [TMZ] Phase-I at Gwalior, MP.
• Aim: Build robust ecosystem for telecom, data centres, semiconductor manufacturing, allied technologies by attracting investments, fostering innovation, promoting indigenous design and manufacturing.
• Scope: Spread across 350 acres, will manufacture mobile phones, telecom equipment, optical fibre, semiconductors, 5G/6G products.
• Implementation: Special Purpose Company [SPC] will be established to implement project.
• Model: Plug-and-play system - ready-to-use infrastructure for faster industrial development.
• UPSC Relevance: GS3 - Manufacturing, Telecom, Semiconductor, Make in India, Atmanirbhar Bharat.
