General Vishwa Nath Sharma

Former Chief of Army Staff General Vishwa Nath Sharma (Retd.) passed away at the age of 91.

He served as the 14th COAS from 1 May 1988 to 30 June 1990.

He was commissioned into the 16 Light Cavalry in 1950 and became the first President's Commissioned Officer after Independence to rise to the position of Army Chief.
