India issues Letter of Request (LoR) to France for Rs 3.25 lakh crore to acquire 114 Rafale jets.
Manufacturing in India: About 94 jets to be made by Dassault Aviation in partnership with an Indian firm.
LoR: Formal govt-to-govt document to initiate defense procurement.
Expected delivery: First Rafale-M jets in 2028.
Objective: Bridge IAF's capability gap; squadron strength down to 29 from the sanctioned 42.5.
