The Department of Posts released a postal cover and stamp honouring Medak Fort in 2026.

Location

Medak, Telangana

History

  • Built during the Kakatiya period.

  • Associated with ruler Pratapa Rudra.

  • Originally known as Methuku Durgam.

  • Later used by the Qutb Shahis.

Architectural Features

The fort contains three important entrances:

  • Prathama Dwaram.

  • Simha Dwaram.

  • Gaja Dwaram.

It also contains:

  • Barracks.

  • Warehouses.

  • A small water body.

  • Historic cannon.
