• The Union Cabinet approved a permanent bench of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh in Ladakh.
• The High Court is common to the UTs of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
• Existing seats are located in Srinagar and Jammu.
• The Ladakh bench will become the third judicial location.
• It is intended to improve access to justice for people in remote and geographically difficult areas.
• The measure can reduce the need for litigants from Ladakh to travel to Jammu or Srinagar.
