- It is associated with the remains of an ancient fort locally known as Raja Bali ka Garh.
- Archaeological evidence indicates multiple phases of construction/occupation.
- The site contains evidence associated with the Northern Black Polished Ware, Shunga, Kushan, Gupta and later Pala periods.
- ASI records indicate that the fort was constructed around the 2nd century BCE and remained in use into the Pala period.
