CAR-T stands for Chimeric Antigen Receptor T-cell therapy.
It is a form of cell-based immunotherapy.
A patient's T cells are collected and genetically modified to recognise specific cancer-associated antigens.
The modified cells are multiplied and then infused back into the patient.
CAR-T therapy has been particularly significant in the treatment of certain blood cancers.
