- NCLAT was constituted under Section 410 of the Companies Act, 2013.
- It came into effect on 1 June 2016.
- It hears appeals against orders of the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT).
- Under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016, NCLAT is an appellate forum for specified NCLT orders.
- It also hears specified appeals involving bodies such as IBBI.
- Decisions of NCLAT can be appealed to the Supreme Court on a point of law.
