What is PRAGATI?

  • PRAGATI stands for Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation.

  • It is an ICT-enabled, multi-modal platform for monitoring:

    • Major infrastructure projects

    • Government programmes and schemes

    • Public grievances

    • Inter-ministerial and Centre-State implementation issues.

  • Launched on 25 March 2015.

  • The Prime Minister chairs PRAGATI meetings.

  • It uses videoconferencing, digital data management and geo-spatial technologies.

Key Features

  • Brings together Central Ministries and State Governments.

  • Provides a mechanism for issue escalation.

  • Routine issues are initially addressed at ministry level.

  • Complex issues can be escalated to higher levels and ultimately reviewed through PRAGATI.

  • Promotes:

    • Accountability

    • Time-bound implementation

    • Inter-ministerial coordination

    • Cooperative federalism

    • Reduction of project delays.

Current Update

  • In January 2026, the government highlighted PRAGATI's 50-meeting milestone.

  • By then, 382 major projects had been systematically reviewed and 2,958 of 3,187 identified issues had been resolved, according to a PIB backgrounder.

  • The 53rd PRAGATI meeting was held in August 2026, reviewing infrastructure projects across nine States with investment exceeding ₹30,000 crore.
