  • Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar is India's national award framework for recognising contributions to Science, Technology and Innovation.

  • It is administered through the RVP Secretariat/CSIR under the Ministry of Science & Technology.

  • The 2026 awards have four categories:

    1. Vigyan Ratna – lifetime achievements.

    2. Vigyan Shri – distinguished contributions.

    3. Vigyan Yuva–Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar – exceptional contributions by young scientists.

    4. Vigyan Team – exceptional collaborative contribution by teams of three or more.

  • The age limit for Vigyan Yuva–SSB is 45 years as on 31 December 2025.

  • Fields include physics, chemistry, biological sciences, mathematics & computer science, earth science, medicine, engineering, agriculture, environment, space, defence technology and others.
