Situated in the Satpura mountain range.
Total reserve area is about 2,133.30 sq km.
Core critical tiger habitat is about 1,339.26 sq km.
It includes:
Satpura National Park
Bori Wildlife Sanctuary
Pachmarhi Wildlife Sanctuary
The landscape is part of the Central Indian Highlands/Deccan biogeographic zone.
The forests form an important catchment for the Tawa and Denwa river systems.
The region contains a mixture of teak and sal forests.
